What is Recovery Innovations for Pursuing Peer Leadership and Empowerment, better known as Ripple?
We are a small collective of people who have lived experience with mental health challenges, addiction challenges or both. We are based in Connecticut and offer services and support across the entire state. Ripple strives to create unique services that have been overlooked by other organizations while trying to be as cost effective as possible. Our late night peer support groups held on the Zoom platform is a good example.
Peer support is not a new concept but we believe it is not being used by the mental health and addiction services system to its full potential, we want that to change. We want to show what a small motivated group of people in recovery can do. We rely on small donations and grants from local sources. At this time we have 1 full time and 1 part time staff members who also serve on the board of our organization, at the moment we are 4 people in total and we are 100% volunteer.
Ripple is inclusive; anyone who has lived experience with mental illness and addiction are welcome to become apart of what we do. We seek diversity, your age, race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, political affiliations, and status of citizenship does not matter to us. It does not matter who you are or where you are in life; mental illness and addiction will not discriminate. Mental illness and addiction can affect anyone, this simple truth tells us that the more people we include, the more ideas and solutions we will find.
