The demand for resources will almost always exceed the resources available. Every day, peers encounter people whose needs are greater than what existing programs can provide, making it essential to identify and prioritize the most immediate needs first.

Yet this challenge is also an opportunity. Through lived experience, peers gain a unique understanding of where services fall short, allowing them not only to support individuals in the moment but also to inform the development of future government-funded programs and inspire community-driven solutions that address unmet needs closer to home.

Today’s gaps in services can become tomorrow’s opportunities for innovation when the voices of those with lived experience help shape the future of recovery.
